What Gear to Take – Solo Grand Canyon

Platypus 4l dromedary

Grey Bag – PUR water filter & MSR Sweetwater

Long Yellow Bag – MSR Hubba tent

Orange Tarp – 2 x 3’x8′ orange panels used for helicopter emergencies and also ground cover for cooking/hanging out and tent ground sheet

Yellow Bag – Warm Clothing (Baffin down booties, micro puff jacket, rain jacket, wool gloves, warm pants & wool turtle neck)

PVC Tube – Toilet (All human waste is transported out of the canyon). Channel locks ensure it can be opened once sand gets in to the threads.

Small Blue Bag – Big Agnes Q Core sleeping pad with repair kit

Orange Bag – Marmot Helium 15F down sleeping bag

Blue Watershed Bag – Kitchen (Jetboil SOL, small ISO gas, bamboo cutlery, wind shield, hand sanitizer & small towel)

Small Yellow Bag – First Aid & Repair kit (AMK Day Tripper first aid kit plus a few extras including Ibuprofen & extra batteries) & Boat/gear Repair kit (including Aquaseal, bulkhead nuts, tape, etc.)

Small yellow bag – Bathroom / toiletries kit

Clear Bag – Book, wallet, pens & permit

Blue Bag – Multi use layers (Buff, Warm hat, IR Union Suit, wool socks, fleece pullover, poogies)

Food (not pictured) – 4000 calories a day including Mountain House for dinner

What I wore paddling – Lycra shorts, wool socks, IR K2 Union Suit, Kokatat Icon Goretex drysuit, Astral Rassler shoes, Bomber Gear K-Bomb spraydeck, Astral Greenvest PFD (with SPOT GPS, food, knife & emergency kit inc. bivy), WRSI Current Pro helmet.
